Youth Enhanced Support Service YESS provides early intervention and wrap-around mental health services to young people with the aim of minimising the impact and distress caused by the experience of early onset severe or complex mental health conditions to young people and their families.

Role Overview:

The Community Engagement Coordinator position aims to develop, strengthen, and maintain key partnerships between YESS and key stakeholders, with a focus on integration with headspace Centres, ReFrame, and relevant SWSLHD teams.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Develop relationships and partnerships with key partners to increase integration and collaboration between services
  2. Ensure all data and reporting management is maintained
  3. Commitment to the continued development of relevant skills
  4. Ensure Risk Management practices are considered and followed in respect of clinical governance and WHS Management

Essential Criteria:

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in an appropriate discipline or demonstrated experience in community engagement, health promotion, public health, social sciences, communication or marketing, education or youth work
  2. Demonstrated experience in the mental health sector with community health experience or understanding with education post qualification.
  3. Demonstrated experience in strategic partnership development
  4. Demonstrated ability to work with various disciplines and mental health organisations
  5. Demonstrated understanding of teaching and learning in the health care environment
  6. Demonstrable interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), problem solving, and negotiation skills
  7. Knowledge and understanding of early psychosis and first episode psychosis rationale and principles, along with the developmental stages of young people and the impact that a first episode of psychosis has on a young person’s development and on the family/significant other
  8. Ability to maintain the philosophy, standards, guidelines, policies and protocols of the EPPIC model and the organisation and to promote the early intervention and recovery of young people with a first episode of psychosis
  9. Ability to be innovative in education approaches and engagement with General Practitioners and other mental health professionals
  10. Evidence of a current Class C drivers license and ability and willingness to travel for work purposes.
