About the role:

This is a full time, closed period contract until 30 December 2022, 35 hours per week.

This is a management role within Links to Early Learning and is responsible for the leadership and delivery of the Links to Early Learning programs.

The overall focus of this role is increasing the number of children who experience disadvantage and vulnerability accessing early childhood education. The target cohort includes families who live in the Campbelltown, Bankstown/Canterbury, Liverpool  Local Government Area and surrounds and surrounds, who are socially isolated, CALD and Aboriginal families, families with disabilities and health condition, and families who experience social and economic disadvantages.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Provide efficient and effective management of the Links to Early Learning team
  • Research and outreach to a variety of networks, organisations, community centres/groups, community and health facilities and others to identify children in the target cohorts who are not attending Early Childhood Education
  • Develop strong partnerships with Early Childhood Education providers in the identified communities to ensure appropriate and warm placements for children that meet their needs
  • Develop and implement with your team appropriate education and support resources to ensure Early Childhood Education providers are well equipped to sustain placements  

Skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Early Childhood or Community Welfare and a minimum of 3 years’ experience working with children and families
  • Demonstrated experience working with children with special needs or from disadvantaged communities aged 0-6 years  regarding screening, assessment, planning, and implementation of relevant programs,  behaviour management strategies and appropriate referrals to community services
  • Understanding of early learning and early childhood development
  • Demonstrated experience in developing relationships with stakeholders in the early learning and community services sector in South Western Sydney
  • Demonstrated experience working with cultural diversity i.e.: Aboriginal and CALD people, delivering and evaluating services in a culturally competent manner.
  • Demonstrated understanding of child protection issues
  • Demonstrated experience in staff supervision and support and the ability to develop staff using a strengths based approach
  • Demonstrated experience in managing record keeping systems and ensuring that they are up to date and accurate
  • Demonstrated experience in innovation and a commitment to continuous improvement
