About the role:

In this management role you will coordinate the day-to-day running of the Multicultural Family Centre team and is responsible for undertaking a range of supervisory and coordination duties to ensure the effective on-going operations of the centre early intervention programs including Fathers’ Support Service, Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY), Supported Playgroups, and Family Casework.

Focused on providing leadership of a team delivering well-coordinated support responses, referral pathways to meet the needs of families you will oversee service delivery, fulfil internal and external accountability requirements for all programs, and manage internal and external partnerships to maximise the effectiveness of this centre and managing the co-located services at this centre to ensure the success of working together as one Uniting.  

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage the operations of a range of early intervention programs so that they meet funding requirements, ethical and professional standards, community and stakeholders’ expectations within a multicultural vision
  • Engage new, expand and further develop existent partnerships to enhance service delivery to Aboriginal, CALD and refugee communities in this region
  • Encourage innovation and the development and use of appropriate evidence based models
  • Working with your colleagues to translate Regional and Business Stream strategies into local plans and tactics, thereby ensuring a consistency in co-ordination and continuum of care.

Skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or a related discipline with demonstrated experience in staff management and supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing, supervising, and supporting staff and team development, using a strengths based approach and cultural awareness
  • Capacity to develop, implement and evaluate programs/partnership projects addressing needs of vulnerable families and children
  • Strong knowledge of issues affecting families and their children experiencing difficulties in their life’s transitions, in particular those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and refugees
  • Demonstrated experience in negotiating and developing strategic partnerships and delivering services catering for disadvantaged communities and target groups.
  • Demonstrated skills in delivering strengths based services that address the needs of families and children along the continuum of care
  • Demonstrated understanding of current child protection guidelines and mandatory reporting requirements
