Are you interested in helping to keep our residents, their families, and our employees safe in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak or exposure in our residential services? Are you willing to commit to going to any Uniting site that has an outbreak or exposure? 

As a dedicated member of the COVID-19 Flying Squad, you will called upon to leave your usual worksite in order to work at facilities experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak or exposure.

Who are we looking for:

• Residential Care Service Employees
• Home and Community Care Support Workers
• Registered and Enrolled Nurses (RN/EN)

To look after you and acknowledge the critical role you will play, the following benefits will be provided:

• Hourly rates 20% above the Uniting Aged Care Enterprise Agreement. This will be paid to you for the duration of the deployment in recognition that you commit to being available and attend work in an outbreak or exposure site within 24 hours' notice. Other shift loadings and penalties will be calculated using your higher hourly rate;
• Paid sick leave (over and above your existing entitlements) if you test positive for COVID-19 or need to isolate due to exposure in the course of your duties.

If required, we will also support you with the following during a deployment:

• An additional allowance of 30% (bringing your total up to 50% loading) when working at sites home to COVID-19 positive residents;
• Paid accommodation to minimise travel; if your preference is not to live at home during your deployment to an outbreak or exposure site; or if you choose to isolate away from home;
• Meal allowance of $72.32 per day when living away from home;
• Payment of flights/travel/other transport when travelling to/from an outbreak or exposure site;
• Counselling Services – free and confidential program provided by Benestar;
• Pastoral support through Uniting’s Chaplaincy and Pastoral Practice team.
