About the role:

This position is a part time, closed period contract until 28 June 2024 (4 days per week). This role is based in Fairfield.

You’ll provide client intake and administrative support to Uniting’s Mediation & Counselling Centre that ensures the smooth delivery of services and clinical program.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Provide intake, assessment, safety screening and referral and ongoing case management of our clients
  • Knowledge and/or experience of intake procedures and screening for issues of safety of clients, family and children
  • Provide clients with information regarding our Mediation & Counselling services including our access to our services, eligibility criteria, waiting periods and relevant fee structures
  • Identify and assess clients needs, ensuring that the intake service is culturally sensitive and responsive to the needs of families from Aboriginal and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities
  • Identify the need for short term assistance for clients and make arrangements for temporary support/assistance and relevant cases
  • Work closely with the Centre Manager or Coordinator regarding to discuss case content, allocation and management of any waitlist
  • Coordinate the review and exit or referral of clients to additional services if needed
  • Participate in provision of educational groups and information sessions of our services, as well as enhance our networks with agencies and external providers
  • Accurate and timely completion of records

What you need to succeed

  • Experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with clients over the phone and face to face
  • Good problem solving, case management, assessment and safety screening skills
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to and manage individuals in crisis or distress
  • Understanding of the community services especially those relating to families experiencing relationship difficulties
  • Strong computer literacy and ability to manage confidential matters
