About the role:

Exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Officer/Skilled Handyperson. This role is responsible for executing various tasks to support service delivery goals, focusing on maintaining property, land-based assets, as well as plant and equipment. 

The hourly award rate is $29.04 when utilising salary packaging will increase to $32.97 plus super.

Role responsibilities:

  • To enable care and accommodation services to be provided in a safe, sustainable, and homelike environment through the timely undertaking of planned and unplanned maintenance
  • Communicate effectively with residents, staff, and families, being empathetic and understanding of the needs of Uniting's aged residents.
  • Ensure maintenance work undertaken is compliant with corporate standards and WHS. 
  • Undertake building/property maintenance tasks as necessary and in a timely manner. Such tasks may be routine or planned and/or reactive.                                                                 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience in same or similar role highly desirable
  • Good Communication & interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of legislation that relates to buildings, workplace health, and safety. 
  • Trade background preferred but not essential
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain buildings and equipment to be compliant with legislation and/or corporate standards.  
  • Understanding of obligations of contractors. 
  • Good computer skills.
  • Current NSW driver’s license. 

Even Better:

  • Demonstrated experience in a maintenance role preferably in an Aged care /Retirement living setting
  • Detailed knowledge of the application use of CMMS (Computerised maintenance management system) training can be provided
