About the role:

Reporting to the Head of WHS, Uniting is about to embark on a new Enabling Safety journey, and we are looking for those who can effectively partner with the business, implement change and embed best practice.

With a focus on our Southern NSW operations you will primarily be based in the Wollongong or surrounding area.  Uniting offers flexible work arrangements that include working from home or flexible hours, but connectivity to the team and other corporate teams are important, so we do require travel to the Sydney CBD office once a fortnight. Main focus of the role is to implement WHS Improvement strategies, support the roll-out of our new management system and other programs / processes across a variety of locations in Southern NSW and ACT.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Support the business to continuously improvement safety performance through active engagement of the frontline in good work design and identifying and implementing practical solutions.
  • Contribute and support the identification of corrective actions arising from incidents, risk management and compliance assurance activities
  • Provide expert advice to identify and implement effective risk controls
  • Drive early intervention and reporting of safety concerns

Skills and experience:

  • Familiar with Enabling Safety / Safety Differently principles and practices
  • Skilled at navigating a complex organisation, forging strong relationships, and managing through influence rather than direct control
  • Utilise active learning methodologies to assist or facilitate the learning from concerns, near misses, incidents as well as exceptional performance.
  • Interpret and practically apply WHS legislation, codes of practice and industry standards where required to support local teams.
