UNSW isn’t like other places you’ve worked. We’re a large organisation with a diverse and talented community; a community doing extraordinary things. Together, we are driven to be thoughtful, practical, and purposeful in all we do. Taking this combined approach is what makes our work matter. It’s the reason we’re one of the top 50 universities in the world and a member of Australia’s prestigious Group of Eight. If you want a career where you can thrive, be challenged, and do meaningful work, you’re in the right place.
The UNSW Business School (Business School) is a leader in business education and research in the Asian region and one of the largest business schools in Australia with more than 17,000 students, 500 academic and professional staff and more than 100,000 alumni and partners. The Business School offers a full suite of business degree programs at undergraduate, postgraduate, coursework and research levels, including the AGSM MBA programs and a range of Executive Programs. Its direction is guided by a business advisory council of top business leaders. For further information, see Business School strategy.
The Centre for Social Impact (CSI) is a national research and education centre dedicated to catalysing social change for a better world. CSI is led by a national team (CSI National) and is comprised of four divisions based in four of Australia’s leading universities: UNSW Sydney (CSI UNSW), University of Western Australia (CSI UWA), Flinders University (CSI Flinders) and Swinburne University of Technology (CSI Swinburne). CSI’s research develops and brings together knowledge to understand current social challenges and opportunities. CSI’s postgraduate, undergraduate and executive education develops social impact leaders. CSI’s aim is to catalyse change by drawing on these foundations and translating knowledge, creating leaders, developing usable resources, and reaching across traditional divides to facilitate collaborations.
CSI UNSW comprises approximately 40 staff across research, education, centre operations, and marketing & communications. CSI UNSW is located on the UNSW Sydney campus (Kensington) and is part of the UNSW Business School. It leads engagements with industry, government, students, alumni, professional bodies, and the community. The CSI National CEO is co-located at UNSW with CSI UNSW.
The CSI UNSW Director is responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational leadership of CSI UNSW and ensuring CSI UNSW contributes effectively to CSI’s broader national strategy and collaboration. This includes overseeing CSI UNSW’s education and research quality; CSI UNSW’s budget performance; the performance and professional development of team members against KPIs; and CSI UNSW’s performance against the strategies of CSI, the UNSW Business School and UNSW’s strategy. The CSI UNSW Director position is a leadership role which works closely with the CEO, CSI National Executive Team, UNSW Business School Senior Leadership Team, and key external partners.
This position is a full-time, 5-year fixed-term role that reports to the Senior Deputy Dean (Academic) in the UNSW Business School and is a member of the Business School Executive Committee. A continuing appointment to a relevant School is negotiable for a candidate with the relevant experience and background. The role also has a reporting line to the National CSI CEO, consistent with the other University Directors across Australia.
