Social Impact Research and Evaluation Specialist

The Centre for Social Justice and Inclusion is the coordinating vehicle for the implementation of the Social Impact Framework across the university, and for driving the university’s social justice agenda more broadly.

The Social Impact Research and Evaluation Specialist sits as part of the Centre for Social Justice and Inclusion’s Social Impact Team. The position provides overall research and evaluation support to a range of social impact initiatives.

If successful in applying for this role, you will:

  • With the support of your supervisor, develop and review the strategic direction of the Social Impact Framework – the university’s theory of change for making a positive contribution to society through research, teaching and practice
  • Establish and implement evaluative systems and processes, including data and narrative capture analysis
  • Deliver evaluation reports including the Social Impact Progress Reports and the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification application
  • Support the communication of evaluation findings to demonstrate the University’s impact. Current focus of the role is on the conversion of the Social Impact Progress Reports to an online interactive platform using Microsoft Power BI.
  • In response to gaps identified through the Social Impact Framework develop novel and bespoke evaluation approaches and evidence their effectiveness through research. Current focus of the role is on the testing of the UTS Partnership Evaluation Tool.
  • Build evaluation capability by devising and implementing an evaluation capacity building program. Current focus of the role is on delivering Social Impact Evaluation workshops.
  • In collaboration with others design, implement and manage interventions that aim to scale and improve the university’s contribution to social change
  • Contribute to creating a well and productive team

With examples that clearly demonstrate your role, your approach and your level of experience and knowledge, please outline in a separate document how you meet the following 6 key selection criteria points:

  • Experience in the development and execution of evaluation strategies for complex large-scale organisations with competing demands
  • Significant experience and proficiency in high level quantitative and qualitative research methods and mixed-method evaluation approaches
  • Significant experience in the collation and analysis of data from multiple sources, including proficiency using data collection and analysis tools such as Qualtrics, Q & SPSS, Microsoft Power BI and NVIVO
  • High level written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to carry out presentations and deliver evaluation reports and publications, both digitally and in print
  • Experience developing and delivering evaluation training and capacity building offerings
  • Strong project management skills and ability to deliver high level complex projects in collaboration and on time

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary Range: $104,390 to $118,889 pa (HEW 8)

This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
