POSITION

The United Workers Union is seeking a highly motivated Organiser (Online to Field) in Brisbane. This position is in our Aged Care Portfolio working on a key national campaign.

Candidates with experience in union or related organising and campaigning will be highly regarded.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This is an exciting new opportunity to organise both in the workplace and online. You will be expected to;

  • Build active and sustainable organising structures that contribute to achieving the Objects of the Union;
  • Create and work to organising plans ensuring membership growth; member leadership and action; and winning industry power;
  • Assess and support the development of delegates and members;
  • Work in digital campaigns, organising and supporting political agendas;
  • Be open to trialling new ways of organising and to be excited to reach workers in different ways
  • Ensure that the Union’s values of equity, diversity and inclusion are upheld and promoted.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

An Online to field organiser demonstrates:

  • A passion and drive to improve workers’ lives and achieving the goals of the Union;
  • Good communication, messaging and rapport building skills;
  • An ability to have successful organising conversations via different delivery methods - face to face, over the phone and online
  • An ability to learn from an experience and put those learnings into a new practice
  • An understanding of social media and its ability to connect workers and drive a campaign forward
  • An ability to develop members, including motivating and educating others;
  • An ability to participate in the unions political and social justice agenda;
  • An ability to plan and organise work and achieve outcomes.

Candidates with experience in union or related organising and campaigning will be highly regarded.

To perform this job, you will also be required to have or obtain and maintain:

  • A valid driver’s licence; and
  • Right of Entry Permits
  • Immunisation against COVID-19 or have a medical exemption

REMUNERATION

An attractive remuneration package will be offered to the successful applicant, which will include:

  • Salary commensurate with demonstrated skills and experience;
  • A motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance (dependent on role);
  • 16% superannuation
  • 6 weeks annual leave plus 25% leave loading
