  • Salary: $66,157.56 - $76,111.33 Pro rata plus Super (based on skills and experience)

About the role:

The person who applies for this position has a passion for the arts and managing projects in the Aboriginal arts space. VACCA’s Art Mentoring program has run four times and we have extended the project to form a VACCA Art Collective to provide a culturally safe space for Aboriginal youth, where they can develop skills, knowledge and support to generate an income through the arts. This role will also involve working on a range of other projects and creative initiatives at VACCA including the Koorie Tiddas girls’ choir and supporting community programs and events.

About You:

  • Commitment to VACCA’s vision and purpose.
  • Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in contemporary Australia and the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal people
  • Passion, knowledge and experience in working in the arts space with Aboriginal community
  • Demonstrated understanding of issues facing Victorian Aboriginal young people, families and communities.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of working with Aboriginal children and young people in out of home care
  • Knowledge and experience in project management and event management (small or large) from contribution to submissions, implementation and evaluation reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilise strategies for conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation with Aboriginal youth
