The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. The Local Justice Worker Program (LJWP) aims to improve justice outcomes for Aboriginal people in the Eastern Region. They will do this by strengthening key stakeholder relationships, which include weekly co-location at the various Department of Justice and Community Safety offices in the East Division. Outreach visits is a core part of the role of servicing clients in the community.
It will be important to have an understanding the wider political and social determinants of Aboriginal people’s interactions with the law. We aim to deliver holistic approaches through multidisciplinary care teams that hold culture as a critical protective factor for Aboriginal people.
