About the role

The Senior Case Advisor will work closely with child protection to advocate for the rights and best interests of Aboriginal children involved in child protection cases. The role involves meeting with families, advising on case planning, ensuring an Aboriginal perspective is included in assessments, and identifying Aboriginal family members for support. Additionally, the advisor will maintain external relationships, complete required reporting, and participate in the Lakidjeka After Hours roster as needed.

About You

The ideal candidate will have a deep commitment to VACCA's values and a strong understanding of Aboriginal cultures, with experience working with Aboriginal families and children. They should be knowledgeable about issues leading to Child Protection involvement and capable of collaborating with Child Protection to advocate for children's best interests. The candidate should also be skilled in risk assessment within a cultural framework, able to work independently and as part of a team, and possess strong administrative and organisational skills, including record-keeping and meeting deadlines in high-pressure environments.

  • A relevant qualification in social work, community services, or a similar discipline/framework, and demonstrated industry experience in working with Aboriginal families in the community. - Experience working in the community services sector.
  • Requirements: Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver's Licence.
