About the role

Based in Broadmeadows, Craigieburn and Sunbury locations, the Aboriginal Practice Leader position lies within the Orange Door Hub service. The Orange Door Hub provides a safe way for adults, children and young people to access services when they are experiencing family violence, or require support with the care, development and wellbeing of their children or young people.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Team Leader of the Aboriginal Response Team will be responsible for the guiding, supporting and supervising a team of dedicated practitioners to provide a vital service to vulnerable people.
The Team Leader- Aboriginal Response Team role will also entail:

  • Coordinate the triage and allocation process to ensure that clients receive timely service response
  • Provide secondary consultation with Hub Practitioners where needed
  • Have oversight and review case management to ensure best practice and maintain oversight on high-risk cases
  • Build and maintain networks and relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective partnerships with local Aboriginal services, communities and governance groups
  • Responsible for high level of Family Violence risk assessments and child wellbeing referrals and assessments
  • Monitor staffing levels to ensure that the Hub is adequately staffed and ensure rosters are up to date to guarantee that service provision is available to Aboriginal families engaged with, or looking to engage the service
  • Manage a small caseload as required

What We Need from you

The Team Leader- Aboriginal Response Team is a key leadership position in the Orange Door Hub, and will require the following qualifications and qualities:

  • A tertiary qualification Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or other aligned area of study and/or significant experience in the field
  • A full Victorian Drivers licence
  • A current Working with Children Check for a paid employee
  • A clear National Police Check (less than 3 months old)
  • Significant demonstrated ability to provide leadership in a Community Services, family violence or child protection environment
  • The ability to work in a manner that is non-judgemental and culturally safe and ensuring the maintenance of good professional boundaries and standards
  • Resilience, compassion, positivity and energy
  • The ability to develop and maintain positive networks and relationships in a challenging fast paced environment
  • Superior attention to detail and an eye for process improvement
  • Demonstrated skills in self-awareness, cultural awareness, autonomy, problem solving skills and conflict resolution
