About the role

The Team Leader role will be responsible for providing leadership, direction and support to family violence case managers/ workers employed within the family violence case management program. The role proactively ensures broad engagement with other VACCA programs. The Team Leader will oversee Assessment, safety planning and case management support to Aboriginal women and children who are impacted by family violence. 

About You

  • The minimum qualification for this role is a Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification or willingness to get it OR have a minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience or have a related qualification relevant to child and family welfare as per the mandatory minimum qualifications for family violence practitioners OR hold significant cultural knowledge and experience of lived experience and have face barriers to educational pathways.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose
  • Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, along with awareness of the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities, and commitment to continually build knowledge in this area. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of family violence issues and the impacts on women, children and families in an Aboriginal context.
  • Highly developed leadership management and team development skill - Effectively manage conflict and be actively involved in problem solving and conflict resolution in a culturally respectful way.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the dynamics and impact of family violence in Aboriginal families and ability to assess and manage risk.
  • Proven ability to develop, manage and lead a team in quality practice with comprehensive understanding of the MARAM risk assessment and understanding of the Information Sharing legislation.
  • Requirements: Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence.
