About the opportunity

The purpose of this position is to promote and deliver the support of VACCHO’s RTO Student, Traineeship programs and other programs, through engaging and supporting trainees and employers to achieve long-term career successes for the Aboriginal Communities.

Your role will be to engage, guide, support and provide mentoring to all our Students, Trainees, and their employers. On a day-to-day basis, this will include undertaking Student/Trainee sign ups, site visits, workplace inspections and case management; visiting and monitoring trainees and their employers; promoting VACCHO Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and the programs offered.

As you will be working with multiple stakeholders at various levels, from individuals to executives, you must have the energy, enthusiasm and to effectively engage with diverse groups, including both informally and professional settings with a focus of supporting your community.

Key responsibilities include:

• Support new and existing Students & Trainees in their studies and workplace to facilitate strong progress by providing guidance, support, mentorship, and supervision for the duration of the student’s program, to help them succeed in their studies, and their future careers.
• Assist with the Student & Trainee Onboarding including pre-training interview and Registration process of candidates and employers, ensuring high quality applicants and results for all parties.
• Undertake regular site visits to ensure safe work practices and conditions for our Students/Trainees.
• Maintaining regular contact with current and potential host employers to proactively anticipate upcoming opportunities and generate new leads and opportunities.

About you

The ideal candidate will have:

• Intermediate proficiency in information technology, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and ability to use an online student and learning management system.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with a wide range of people; develop and maintain effective working relationships, characterised by co-operation, trust and mutual respect.
• Strong organisational and planning skills, including the ability to effectively manage time and workload, determine priorities and manage multiple tasks to deadlines. A flexible approach with an ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities is required.
• Demonstrated ability to work or learn to work with Aboriginal organisations, communities and individuals in culturally appropriate ways as well as mainstream health organisations.
