The organisation

Launchpad East Tamar is a new not-for-profit community organisation that is funded to deliver a range of projects in the East Tamar region of Northern Tasmania. Reporting to a Board formed by volunteers, your role as EO will be to shape the future of George Town and the surrounding communities by implementing change and driving outcomes through the removal of barriers to participation.

The organisation will be located in George Town, a fantastic location on the Tamar River, only thirty-five minutes from Launceston. Beautiful beaches and bush settings provide the opportunity for an enviable lifestyle.

The Position

We are looking for a founding EO to assist the Board to develop a person-centred, inclusive, and community-focused culture.

This is a varied role with plenty of scope to effect real change in our community and to generate positive experiences and outcomes for our communities. You will have a strong focus on building relationships across an eclectic and spirited community. As well as identifying opportunities for innovation and collaboration throughout of the community.

This position provides an exciting opportunity to work with the Board, key stakeholders, and the community of the East Tamar to lead the organisation towards a sustainable and innovative future in realising the community’s potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Board to develop strategies that deliver Launchpad outcomes.
  • Role model and lead a team and the community in codesign and advanced community facilitation of projects.
  • Build partnerships with stakeholders, local organisations, and businesses.
  • Manage Launchpad operations including staff, volunteers, and budget.
  • Ensure that data collection and evaluation are completed in line with evaluation and reporting frameworks.
  • Manage Launchpad communications.

The Person

We are seeking a strategic thinker and operator, with an inclusive management style, a strong focus on people, culture, and a passion for working within a participatory framework. The incoming EO will have excellent communication, business planning, and financial skills necessary for developing new program opportunities.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading a not for profit organisation that delivers successful outcomes.
  • Proven high-level strategic thinking and planning skills.
  • Proven capacity to lead by example and effectively communicate internally and externally in all key areas of responsibility.
  • Proven ability to build and lead a successful team.
  • Strong advocacy, networking, and partnership-building skills with demonstrated capacity to work effectively with a diverse range of people including community members, community groups, and government agencies.
  • The capacity to work closely with the Board to apply governance principles and practices throughout the organisation, including sustainability and risk management.
