About Us

Victorian Croatian Aged Care Services (VCACS) aims to provide safety and care of the highest standard to our elderly, based on foundations of dignity, choice, and respect, while supporting each resident as an individual, in the tradition of the Australian Croatian Community. To this end, we have completed the construction of a 100-bed residential aged care facility in Bell Park, Geelong.

We are looking for an experienced Diversional Therapist to join our growing team at our brand-new aged care home in Geelong.

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic person to bring energy and passion to the role of Diversional Therapist within our lifestyle team.

You have a vital role to play in delivering the lifestyle programs and ensuring that all residents are able to participate. This is a full-time position working across Monday to Friday.

What you would do

• Develop lifestyle programs based on individual needs, preferences and goals with the aim to enhance Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, Cultural, and social wellbeing.
• Responsible for coordinating a volunteer program that enhances the support provided to consumers to enjoy the things of interest to them.

• Demonstrated understanding of Aged Care and associated accreditation requirement e.g., Aged Care Quality Standards, ACFI
• Certificate IV in Leisure and Health or similar qualification
• Previous experience in a Lifestyle Coordinator position (or similar) designing and implementing a Lifestyle program in a 100 plus facility
• Experience in an ethno-specific Aged Care facility (desirable)
• Experience using a computerised Care Management System (desirable)
• Outstanding computer literacy skills
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Croatian speaking is highly desirable.

Mandatory requirements for all candidates

• Valid National Police Check
• Proof of the right to work lawfully in Australia
• Evidence that you have had the 2020 Flu Vaccination or willingness to complete this before employment can be offered*

* The Australian Government has advised that all residential aged care staff and visiting workers should be vaccinated by 1 May 2020. This includes both current and future VCACS employees.
