Remote / Work from Home
Are you a talented professional with a love of animals and a deep concern about climate change? Could you motivate a group of people to improve the sustainability of their workplace, while also selling a product that will secure the financial growth of our organisation? Would you like the unique opportunity to work for a young climate group which is bursting with new ideas and potential?
If so, jobs don’t get much more exciting than this one!
Veterinarians for Climate Action (VfCA) is developing Climate Smart. This outreach project will train veterinary practices across Australia to reduce their emissions and improve their sustainability. It will also introduce more veterinarians and vet nurses to the impacts of climate change on animals and how they can use their influence to advocate for climate action.
We’re looking for a multi-talented person who will:
VfCA represents veterinarians, veterinary nurses, practices and industry partners across Australia calling for climate action. We work to help everyday Australians understand the need for urgent climate action, we train people within our profession to become advocates and we set up volunteer groups to realise the change they want to see.
VfCA is a young and dynamic organisation. In the eighteen months since founding we’ve made substantial progress in our journey towards being a fully-fledged and impactful climate organisation. The vast majority of our work is driven by our incredible volunteers. This role would be our third staff position.
The project has five goals:
The training course is delivered to small cohorts, with approximately 15-20 participants each from a different veterinary clinic. It consists of six modules - Water, Recycling and Minimising Landfill, Energy Efficiency, Procurement, Renewable Energy and Chemicals, Toxins & Pharmaceuticals.
To date we’ve developed the overall course structure, created content for the Water module and are in the process of running a small pilot program with a dozen clinics participating.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for finalising and rolling out Climate Smart.
$75,000 - $95,000 dependent on experience. 9.5% superannuation.
Remote working from anywhere in Australia.
This is currently a two year contract with possibility of extension depending on funding.
Our preference is for someone who can work 5 full days per week, but we’d be willing to accept anywhere from 1FTE to 0.6FTE. Working days are typically Monday - Friday with occasional weekend work once every few months. It’s highly likely this role will require evening meetings at least two nights per week.
As our organisation is volunteer driven, we ask for flexibility from our staff members, as mostly the time that volunteers can meet is evenings. We also value flexibility in our work and offer TOIL for hours worked outside of 9 - 5.30pm.
We value diverse experiences and perspectives to strengthen our team, strategies, and movement. We strongly encourage applications from First Nations people, people of colour, parents and carers from all types of families, and people living anywhere in Australia.
