NDIS Compliance Officer

We are looking for someone to join our growing team to manage our compliance activities.

As our compliance officer you will be responsible for ensuring VIA Care’s operations, services and processes are complaint with the regulations and expectations of the NDIA and any relevant state and federal laws and regulations, and promote a high quality service for participants.

You will hold a key role in maintaining a high quality of service for participants and their families and maintaining organisational compliance with government regulations, helping to shape business processes and service delivery as we grow our services.

Primary responsibilities

In this role you will be primarily responsible for maintaining a strong and up to date understanding of best practice in disability support and compliance requirements including but not limited to funding requirements, worksafe obligations and those set out by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commissioner.

You will apply this knowledge within the organisation, reviewing all aspects of company operations to ensure that all service and administrative activities are fully compliant and support the delivery of best practice services. In conjunction with the leadership team you will develop and implement changes which maintain compliance obligations and service improvement.

As a subject matter expert in NDIS service delivery, disability best practice and organisational obligations you will have a key role in developing and reviewing our service agreements. Drawing on your expertise you will ensure our services are not just compliant with regulation but of the highest quality and deliver meaningful impact in the lives of participants and their families.

You will maintain a register of training and development for all staff to maintain and develop their skills in meaningful areas and provide incidental coaching and formal sessions to staff and leadership on areas related to compliance and best practice.

You will be working closely with VIA Care executives and internal and external stakeholders, preparing reports and action plans which promote continuous improvement, and quality and compliance maintenance. In line with registration cycles you will be working with external auditors and driving VIA Care’s workflow regarding re-registration.

Please note this role requires the management of compliance activities however the role is not responsible for directly supervising staff.

The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:

  • Excellent understanding of compliance requirements and the ability to implement compliant processes within an organisation, including document preparation and ensuring action plans are put in place and communicated in a timely manner
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake continuous improvement, risk management and risk mitigation.
  • Ability to draw on data to review organisation activities and prepare reports on quality outcomes for operations and executive staff, and work with audit teams in line with the organisation’s reporting cycle
  • Identify and escalate emerging, actual, or potential risks and serious issues in a timely manner and assist each service areas to develop and implement plans manage, monitor, and evaluate, ensuring risks to customers and the organisation are mitigated
  • Implement a training and skills maintenance schedule for staff and provide both formal and informal sessions which maintain staff skills in matters relating to compliance.
  • Ability to support external accreditation and assessment processes.
  • Understanding of client management systems and the process to claim funding through the NDIS for delivered services.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • A thorough understanding of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards framework and relevant Victorian workplace obligations, or experience operating in a similar statutory or regulated environment with demonstrated ability to rapidly understand the NDIS frameworks.
  • A thorough understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme
  • Experience or demonstrated understanding of disability and/or person-centred practice
  • Experience working in the NDIA or NDIS service providers or demonstrated understanding of the obligations of NDIS service providers
  • Current working with children check and willingness to undergo a national police check and NDIS worker screening check
  • Post-secondary qualification in allied health, disability, business or a field relating to compliance is desirable.

This role may be undertaken either in a part time 0.8 or full time capacity.
