VicHealth is committed to ensuring appointments represent the range of lived experience in the Victorian community. Women, indigenous people, people with disability, young people, LGBTIQ+ people and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
VicHealth is the world’s first health promotion foundation. Established by the Victorian Parliament in 1987, we were the first agency of our kind worldwide to utilise a hypothecated tax on tobacco to support independent, long-term, evidence-based health promotion practice, partnerships and leadership that would translate into real-world impacts. We continue to be a global leader in health promotion, as a Collaborating Centre with the World Health Organization and a technical partner to UNICEF.
The Policy Lead reports directly to the Manager, Policy, and works within a small, cross-organisational Policy and Research Group responsible for maximising VicHealth’s value in the public policy process and evidenced based thought leadership.
This exciting and rare opportunity will have a specific focus on managing and advocating for the development and adoption of health-based policy.
Day-to-day responsibilities include developing activities to advance VicHealth’s policy agenda including by working and managing sector stakeholder relationships.
Being the 'go to' for VicHealth related policy positions, you'll be drafting and coordinating policy documents, submissions, briefings and other government related activities.
Occasionally you may also liaise with international partners, including WHO and Tonga Health to develop health promotion capacity in the region.
You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of health promotion topics spanning VicHealth’s imperative and cross imperative areas.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate exceptional collaboration, stakeholder management and project management skills.
If this sounds like you and you're interested in valuable professional development opportunities, annual leave loading, and an amazing new office environment, we'd like to hear from you.
