About the role

The Family Dispute Resolution Service (FDRS) works with clients to resolve family law disputes. This high-volume service provides best practice legally-assisted dispute resolution services to families, within a legal agency.

As a case manager, you will engage, assess and prepare each person involved in a dispute, so they can fully participate in a mediation conference conducted by an accredited mediator, with the support of lawyers. As part of a case-management team, you will also regularly liaise with lawyers and other. You will work collaboratively within the FDRS team on identifying opportunities for client-focused service improvements.

About you

You will have strong communication skills and have the ability to sensitively engage with a wide range of clients, often with complex needs, including those experiencing family violence, living with mental health or drug use issues, and from a diversity of backgrounds. You will have the capacity to manage a heavy workload under pressure, adapt to change and work collaboratively in a team, as well as with lawyers and other professionals.

Crucial to your success in this role will be your knowledge and understanding of issues that arise in separating families, through experience in the legal or social sciences sectors. You will be able to show an understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and an ability to communicate in a culturally sensitive way.
