Join a vibrant team in Victoria's consumer-led peak body for people with lived experience of mental health challenges, working in the CHECK-IN program with a particular focus on the evaluation and facilitation of group programs.

CHECK-IN is a peer support and connection program for those with a lived experience of emotional distress or mental illness, who are living in Victoria. The program was developed in response to consumers wanting connection and support during the COVID-19 pandemic and continues in-person, via Zoom and phone. You will support the facilitation of group programs and assist in the evaluation of CHECK-IN Peer Support programs.

We are seeking an experienced facilitator and evaluator to complement our CHECK-IN peer support team. You will have:

  • A lived experience of mental health issues is essential for this role
  • Previous experience facilitating groups.
  • Research and evaluation skills and experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to consumer participation at an individual, group and organisation level.
  • Experience communicating, collaborating with and representing a diverse range of people in both and individual and a group setting.
  • Strong organisational skills with an ability to effectively plan work to meet objectives, apply

Your role includes:

  • Collecting and analysing program data, interpret findings and suggest program changes
  • Conducting evaluations to assess the impact and effectiveness of program
  • Providing support in facilitating the CHECK-IN Group Programs with other peer workers face-to-face and via Zoom
  • Ensuring that accurate consumer information is documented and stored confidentially, within the VMIAC database
  • Draft written reports and presentations related to evaluation findings
  • Attending and representing VMIAC at identified education, training, and information workshops and forums
  • Other duties as negotiated.

You will be based at the VMIAC office in Brunswick East supporting consumers across Victoria. Most work is in business hours, although may include occasional after-hours or evenings to facilitate group programs.

The successful applicant will hold a current Victoria Driver’s license, and a current satisfactory Police Check and Working with Children Check.

The position is a contract position for 6 months until the end of 2021 and will be 3 days a week, you must be able to work Monday & Thursday and one other day by negotiation.
