The Inclusion Coordinator will undertake a range of activities which will build support for volunteer involving organisation to create safe, sustainable and supported volunteering opportunities for First Nations People and newly arrived migrants in the first transition year of the Volunteer Management Activity funding. This role is funded until June 2022 (with the possibility of extension) for between 28hrs per week - full time. First Nations People and those from a migrant background strongly encouraged to apply.

Duties of the role include:

  • Undertake a jurisdictional needs analysis and environmental scan in relation to volunteering within both First Nations People and newly arrived migrants
  • Create codesigned project management plans for program development for both target groups. Recommend members to form participant advisory groups from both First Nations People and newly arrived migrants
  • Design initial resources and training modules for VIO’s to engage First Nations People and newly arrived migrants utilising evaluations and learnings from previous programs
  • Deliver other projects under both national and jurisdictional strategies developed under the Volunteer Management Activity which enable organisation capacity in line with approved project plans
  • Lead the process for development of an internal Reconciliation Action Plan
  • Deliver engaging quarterly events for the training and development of volunteer managers and regular training sessions to build capacity and capability within organisations
  • Nurture professional relationships, including collaboration with members and key stakeholders
  • Support the Executive Team to actively implement the strategic objectives of the organisation
  • Effectively recruit, screen, train and manage volunteers to meet organisational and program/project objectives including utilising retention and recognition techniques
  • Adhere to VACT’s policies, procedures, systems and legislative requirements
  • Prepare high quality reports for relevant Departments, Board of Directors and for the Executive team
  • Identify, research and recommend new service or product opportunities in line with operational and strategic plans
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of all interactions with external stakeholders, including regular formal and informal feedback and Program evaluation
  • Maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders to support access to and leveraging of sector development activities
  • Identify partnership opportunities, service gaps and trends, and recommend proposals or solutions to the Executive
  • Contribute to the smooth running and facilitation of both business sites
  • Respond to all general enquiries including resolving member and VCA’s online platform enquiries in a professional and timely manner
  • Contribute to organisational priorities including ongoing program alignment and partnering.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • Certificate IV in Community Service or equivalent and/or relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of the community sector including program experience supporting people for whom a barrier to inclusion has been placed in their path
  • Demonstrated sound interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a diverse environment and utilising a broad range of communication approaches to suit audience’s needs
  • Demonstrated sound problem-solving skills, time management and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Efficient at using IT platforms and databases including maintaining accurate and timely records

Desirable:

  • Experience in facilitating training and/or meetings
  • Database and website management skills

Other requirements:

  • Must be flexible as this position will require out of hours and weekend work on an as necessary basis
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People Check or willingness to obtain one
