We invite you to bring your financial operations skills and experience as an accountant to Volunteering Gold Coast (VGC) to help shape our dynamic not-for-profit organisation. VGC’s mission is to extend the impact of services and programs through a volunteering movement that empowers purposeful, connected and inclusive communities. This is undertaken through a number of service arms including Transport, Disability and Aged Care Services, and Community Volunteering.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Assistant Accountant will be responsible for overseeing and supporting the following functions

  • Accounts Receivable/Payable
  • Cash Management
  • Payroll.

This role will also provide financial reporting and analysis to Executive Management, oversee integration projects, and contribute towards the efficient and accurate management of finances at Volunteering Gold Coast. The role will adopt business partnering approaches, building VGCs ability to create value and impact for its service users, employees and volunteers.

Working in a small finance team, relationship building, and strong communication skills are a high priority. The Chief Financial Officer will look to this position to step up and provide necessary support when needed.

We are looking for an experienced accountant, who has:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar role (experience in all finance functions including general ledger, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, cash management, payroll, projects).
  • A recognised tertiary qualification and a commitment to ongoing professional development
  • High attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Possess an understanding of accounting practices, compliance and processes.
  • Strong mathematics skills with the ability to spot numerical errors.
  • Previous experience managing and developing direct reports within a finance team
  • Experience in the Microsoft suite of programs with demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel, and MYOB (or similar).
  • Exemplary and clear interpersonal and communication skills - both verbal and written skills.
  • Well-developed time management and organisational skills.
  • Exceptional project management skills and work ethic.
  • Ability to work in a team and/or autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • High level of dependability and punctuality.
