Volunteering Tasmania supports research and evidence-based decision-making in volunteering in Tasmania.

Scope of the Position

The role will work with the strategic managers to support the CEO in the execution of the Strategic Plan (2018-2022) and is responsible for developing and implementing innovative mechanisms for achieving this and demonstrating organisational leadership through exceptional governances, business administration, and a positive working environment.

The Operations Manager leads the HR, operational policies and procedures, risk and compliance, data systems and day to day operational matters at VT. The position holds key influence and responsibility for ensuring the people, strategy, processes, systems, resources, and relationships are effective, efficient, and well placed for ongoing development in support of the organisations purpose. The Operations Manager oversees the financial management and regulatory environment of the organisation.

Duties, Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Lead the WHS and risk management and compliance functions of the organisation.
  • Oversee the organisational policy framework, including development, implementation and review of operational policies and procedures.
  • Manage the HR, and people and culture function of the organisation and drive a culture of support, engagement, and well-being.
  • Oversee the financial management of the organisation and act as the primary contact for our accounting firm.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory obligations, and funding partner service agreement requirements.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and all Strategic Managers to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Develop and nurture professional relationships with organisational consultants, the Board, government partners, members, and other key stakeholders.
  • Identify, research, and recommend new services or product opportunities in line with operational and strategic plans.
  • Develop, improve, and manage internal systems and processes that support effective governance and continuous improvement.
  • IT and database management, including but not limited to, the CRM, HR platform and accounting platform.
  • Actively and professionally represent the organisation.
