Program Support Officer - Social Policy

Western Australian Council of Social Service

The Western Australian Council of Social Service Inc (WACOSS) is the peak body of community service organisations and individuals in Western Australia. WACOSS stands for an inclusive, just and equitable society. We advocate for social change to improve the wellbeing of West Australians and to strengthen the community sector service that supports them. WACOSS is part of a national network comprising ACOSS and the State and Territory Councils of Social Service, which represent the interests of low income and socially disadvantaged people across Australia, and assists and supports the community sector with the delivery of community services.

Policy and advocacy work is central to WACOSS’ role and is a critical mechanism the organisation uses to influence decision making, public debate and outcomes in the interests of vulnerable people in WA. The Program Support Officer – Social Policy (PSO SP) plays a key role in supporting WACOSS’ Social Policy Team.

The PSO SP assists in a range of administrative and logistical activities and provides project support for the social policy programs managed by WACOSS. The role includes providing support to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, assisting with the organisation and documentation of meetings and events, and liaising and maintaining communication with sector stakeholders and WACOSS members.

You must have some experience in the community services sector, excellent interpersonal and writing skills, and the capacity to work in a fast-paced and changing work environment.
