Waltja is a community based organisation that works with families from Central Desert Indigenous Communities to address major issues affecting their communities. Waltja’s work focuses on addressing the many gaps in service delivery for children, youth, elders and people with disabilities in the remote communities of Central Australia.

Our board of directors are all Indigenous women leaders from remote communities and they steer the organisation’s direction according to a set of Indigenous principles they have named ‘The Waltja Way’.

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Waltja is seeking specialised professional services from a qualified case management consultant.

Waltja Tjutangku Palyapayi Aboriginal Corporation provides intergenerational family support services across central Australian Aboriginal communities. Waltja is governed by senior Aboriginal women from the communities we work with. Waltja’s model of practice respects and supports the self-determination and cultural strength of Aboriginal families and communities.

We seek a Consultant to support our remote team for the Children and Families Intensive Support program.

The Case Management Consultant will:

• Provide regular case planning and review meetings with team members
• Guide the customisation of case management resources.
• Provide sound professional training and guidance to the team, using strength-based models of practice appropriate to the Waltja Way.
• Support the team for Waltja’s Children and Families Intensive Support program for Anmatjere, Eastern Arrernte and Alywarre communities.

This is a long-term (five-year) program with a team of 5 to 6 people, including the: Team Leader, Fieldworkers and Program Support Worker. It is expected that consultant services would average 12-16 hours per month.

This service could be provided face-to-face or online.

Negotiable start date in 2022.
