Case Worker Tenancy Plus Program

We exist so that people have access to safe, sustainable and affordable housing and our vision is to be the major provider of social housing services and leading-edge client support programs in the Southern Melbourne Metropolitan region.

Tenancy Plus is delivered by Wayss in collaboration with the Department of Housing, Fairness and Families (DFFS) with a focus on supporting people through early intervention and integrated service delivery.

About the role

The case worker will promote successful tenancies by supporting people in social housing accommodation to maintain independent living and reduce their risk of further homelessness. Tenancy Plus is delivered by Wayss in collaboration with the Office of Housing (DFFH) with a focus on supporting people through early intervention and integrated service delivery.

Duties will include:

  • Providing a responsive, flexible and outreach case management service to ensure social housing tenancies are successfully established and or maintained.
  • Empowering clients through a strengths-based model of practice.
  • Liaising and working closely with external partner agencies such as Office of Housing (DFFH).
  • Engaging in safety planning with clients.
  • Facilitating referrals and liaising with specialist support such as AOD and mental health services.
  • Providing culturally appropriate support for clients facing specific barriers.
  • Promoting the rights, responsibilities and dignity of clients.
  • Networking with other service providers and programs.
  • Providing advocacy and support activities on behalf of clients.

About you

We are looking for a passionate, client-focused individual who can work with a diverse range of clients.

You will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Social or Behavioural Science, Psychology, Community Services or other relevant discipline at degree level or above.
  • Relevant experience working in the community services sector.
  • Sound knowledge of social housing and homelessness, with an understanding and commitment to the social and political context of homelessness.
  • Well-developed understanding of and ability to provide intensive support to people with complex needs.
  • Demonstrated capability and experience in providing case management and knowledge of practice frameworks. • Excellent client service and engagement skills and a high level of confidence supporting people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Good understanding of the Residential Tenancies Act and VCAT.
  • Well developed interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to improving service delivery and practice.

This role requires a current Driver’s Licence and valid ‘Employment’ category - Working with Children Check Card. The candidate will need to have successfully completed Wayss pre-employment screening, a police check and provide evidence of full Covid-19 vaccination compliance.
