Our Purpose

Western Chances empowers young people from Melbourne’s west who are facing financial barriers to achieve their potential. We assist motivated young people in Melbourne’s west facing financial barriers to realise their potential by providing scholarships, opportunity programs and ongoing support. We have a strong track record of success and since first awarding scholarships in 2004, we have invested $7.8 million in Melbourne’s west, awarding over 8,000 scholarships and empowering over 3,500 young people.

About the role

Reporting to the CEO, this new 2-year contract role will work closely with the Western Chances team and external contractors to develop and deliver the Western Chances corporate partnerships strategy. This includes managing related events and activities to raise funds, profile and resources to achieve our strategic plan, and vision of helping young people realise their potential.

You would be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing Western Chances’ corporate partnerships strategy
  • Sustaining and growing Western Chances’ portfolio of corporate partners and income
  • Delivering Western Chances’ major events (in collaboration with external event management contractors)
  • Creating, managing and reporting on corporate partnerships budget

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Relevant experience in a similar role such as corporate fundraising or business development
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships leading to financial outcomes including partnership or sponsorship
  • Proven track record of achieving income targets
  • A strong ability to manage large events from conception to completion
  • Excellent communication skills, both interpersonal and written
  • A problem solving attitude and ability to work with multiple stakeholders to deliver projects
