ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Business Manager, this role is an entry level position, offering administrative support to the Business Manager and Office Manager whilst undertaking routine clerical and/or support activities. The incumbent will be offered substantial on-the-job training and familiarisation with the goals and objectives of the workplace.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Basic administration tasks to support the effective functioning of the WCS office, including data entry and MS Word processing ;
  • Responsible for self time management of work whilst using basic numeracy, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Completion of routine office procedures including photocopying, recording, filing, batching of accounts, invoices, orders, stores requisitions and maintenance of WCS records systems and databases;
  • Performing general reception and telephonist duties, and liaising with donors, supporters and the shelter network with regard to donations;
  • In conjunction with the Office Manager, upload intranet content; 
  • Assist Business Manager and Office Manager in hosting events; and
  • Other duties within the scope of the Position, and the limits of the incumbent’s skills, competence and training, as directed by the Business Manager.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Developing knowledge of workplace functions and operations;
  • Basic knowledge of administrative practices and procedures relevant to the workplace;
  • Basic numeracy, written and verbal communication skills and ability to converse in an empathetic and patient manner; and
  • Adaptability, flexibility and openness to change.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

  • Understanding of current issues in women’s homelessness, including current practices of responses to domestic and family violence.

WCS is a charitable, for-purpose organisation with a mission to establish new crisis accommodation services for homeless women and children in partnership with business, government and community. 

We are an innovative model bringing new thinking and creative ideas to the homelessness sector. We are currently working with several communities to establish new women’s shelters and working with partners to deliver innovative projects across our Network.
