About Women’s Safety NSW

Women's Safety NSW is a peak representative body for women's specialist domestic and family violence services in NSW. We advocate on behalf of our members to drive policy, practice, law reform and cultural change to increase women's safety, justice and wellbeing in the context of domestic and family violence.

Women's Safety NSW’s purpose is to drive policy, practice and law reform which results in women and children’s safety, justice and wellbeing in the context of domestic and family violence, through:

  • Identifying and advocating on systemic issues for women and children’s safety, justice and wellbeing in the context of domestic and family violence with a focus on policy, practice and law reform;

  • Supporting an empowered and engaged membership to drive the work of the organisation;

  • Providing a strong voice in NSW and nationally for women’s safety, justice and wellbeing in the context of domestic and family violence;

  • Working collaboratively with women’s specialist services and other partners to promote women and children’s safety justice and wellbeing; and

  • Being a well governed and managed association with a strong membership and a sustainable funding base.

We are funded by the NSW Government through Legal Aid NSW, and by our members, donors and other project funders.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The principal functions of the Chief Executive Officer are to:

  1. To represent member services who are advocating for women and their children experiencing domestic and family violence; and

  2. To facilitate the effective operation and fulfil the delegated management functions of Women's Safety NSW Board.

Key responsibilities

The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for representing member services who are advocating for women and their children impacted by domestic and family violence and for facilitating the effective operation and delegated management functions of Women's Safety NSW Board.

  • Promote the interests and further the development of Women's Safety NSW and its membership.

  • Engage with the organisational membership and sector partners to inform the development of a practice, policy and legislative reform agenda for the organisation in line with the Women's Safety NSW Board endorsed strategic plan.

  • Produce high-quality policy documents, submissions and independent research that is circulated widely.

  • Engage with the organisational membership and sector partners to inform the development of high-quality resources to support member services and staff.

  • Develop strong partnerships and collaborative relationships with organisational stakeholders.

  • Develop a work plan and budget in accordance with the organisation’s funding agreements and the Board approved Strategic Plan.

  • Explore opportunities for the expansion of organisational funding.

  • Undertake organisational planning and monitoring.

  • Manage human resources.

  • Resource the Board of Directors.

  • Promote the role of member services statewide.
