About the position

The Manager, Strategic Planning works closely senior scientists and senior departmental managers to develop, implement and monitor the delivery of WEHI's planning framework and integrated planning cycle. The Manager will work with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate efforts to develop and deliver WEHI's high level planning documents including the 5-year strategic plan and annual plans. In addition, the Manager, Strategic Planning is responsible for the delivery of specific projects and programs of strategic significance to the institute.

  • Ability to work in partnership and use consultative practices and influence methods to help others understand organisational issues and solve competitive and strategic issues
  • Experience in and understanding of strategic planning with experience establishing priorities, allocating resources and meeting deadlines
  • Project management skills, the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, and to maintain tact and composure in such circumstances
  • Ability to investigate, analyse and consolidate information to position proposals in a broader context
  • High level interpersonal communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to liaise, mediate and influence
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, exercise judgment and initiative to identify and rectify problems

Qualifications and experience

  • PhD in medical biology or other related field highly desirable, with a strong background and understanding of the biomedical sector.
  • Experience in leading teams in strategic planning or program development.

Terms of appointment

This position is an ongoing role in a full time capacity.

Salary is Professional Services Employee Level 9 ($123,671- $133,867). Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
