About this opportunity

Working within the Contact Centre our Carer Youth Support Planner is the first point of contact when a young carer calls in. Your experience with youth mental health will assist you greatly to make assessments and plan services and opportunities for young Carers to access support provided by the Carer Gateway.

A typical day will be to support carers via the phone to access information, support and plan services relevant to their young caring role. You will provide information and connections to relevant services to address the holistic wellbeing of the young carer to create positive linkages in the community, including face to face and online options.

The Carer Gateway Services has been created in the context of national reforms and represent an exciting new era for the delivery of innovative youth Carer services.

About You

You're a passionate, empathetic and caring individual who is looking to make an invaluable positive impact on the lives of others. Have a good understanding of youth and mental health and understanding of impacts on mental wellbeing. You relish a challenge and new experience. You're calm, collected and resilient in the face of adversity and are looking to carry these qualities with you to the front line to start helping those in need.

Your customer service skills and passion for helping other will ensue carers are listened to with patience and non-judgement. Use your voice to work with carers to establish and implement agreed action plans ensuring the service approach incorporates the following service principles: Carer Focused, Practical and Flexible, Inclusive

This role offers an amazing 9am - 5pm roster Monday to Friday, leaving your weekends free to enjoy!

You will need:

  • Direct experience working with youth in a fast paced environment
  • Call Centre experience - highly desired!
  • Qualifications and/or experience working in community services, mental health or carer/family peer positions
  • High level IT skills
  • Right to work in Australia
  • Satisfactory Police Records Check
  • Blue Card, prior to commencement
  • Applicants having experience and knowledge in psychosocial disability will be at an advantage
  • NDIS Orientation Certificate prior to commencement
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Full COVID Vaccinations, inclusive of booster or a medical exemption from a registered medical practitioner
