Wellways Australia is the Carer Gateway service provider in South West Sydney, Nepean Blue Mountains and Queensland. Carer Gateway service providers provide carers with practical information, advice and support to access services that help them to sustain in their caring role. Carers are people who provide a caring role to someone in their life who has a disability, mental health issue, chronic health condition, terminal illness or is frail aged. The CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) Project within Carer Gateway Services has been created to support CALD carers in the NSW region to engage with Carer Gateway Services. The project aims to increase CALD engagement in the service area and ensure the services are accessible to CALD carers through community engagement and outreach.
The Project Officer will source, engage and facilitate referrals into the Carer Gateway service across Vietnamese, Arabic, Assyrian, Mandarin and Cantonese speaking communities. Community engagement activities will comprise 70% of the project officers capacity including information sessions, media engagement, advisory group and home visit facilitation and will require frequent travel.
