We are seeking a Recovery Worker to join our HASI Program here at Wellways Australia. This position will be based from either our Wagga Wagga OR office in NSW.

About HASI Program

The Housing and Accommodation Support Initiative (HASI) is designed to work with participants to address key areas that support people who have mental health difficulties, so they can maintain successful tenancies and participate in their communities. A key outcome of the program will be supporting the participant to identify and nurture natural supports that sustain recovery, and to assist in the development of self-management skills.

About Your Next Opportunity

Working in the role of Recovery Worker, you will provide practical support to people with a mental illness through the Housing and Accommodation Support Initiative.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Engaging in ongoing consultation with participants, carers and other relevant parties
  • Administrative duties; ensuring all documentation (i.e. case notes) is completed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Ensure adherence to Wellways' policies and procedures and all relevant legislation and accreditation standards
  • Participate in service review and development activities
  • Conduct regular face to face support visits to connect with the person and to monitor and offer support around key areas
  • Encourage linkages into a range of activities to support achievement of goals, including all other Wellways services
  • Provide direct practical support to participants to attain the skills required to meet the goals identified to ensure social inclusion, including group activities as appropriate.
  • Provide support to access activities and opportunities that promote independence

So What Do You Need?

  • Relevant qualifications or commensurate experience in working in a support role for people with a mental illness, generally a Certificate IV qualification or above
  • Experience in working with diverse groups including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, refugee groups and LGBTIQ groups
  • Current valid Drivers License and ability to undertake travel
  • Appropriate IT skills
  • Satisfactory Police Check records (no older than 12 months
  • NSW Working with Children Check, prior to commencement
  • Evidence of working rights within Australia such as a passport or birth certificate
  • NDIS Orientation Module
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Evidence of full COVID vaccination (including booster if eligible) or valid medical exemption
