About the program

Pop-up Community Mental Health & Wellbeing Services (CMHWS) will support the increased demand for mental health and wellbeing services, and to relieve pressure on existing specialist and general practice services by utilising community health and non-government mental health and wellbeing support organisations.

The service aims to respond to mental health and wellbeing needs as a result of the stressors and concerns brought about by the pandemic. It will complement clinical interventions and treatment by actively supporting the recovery of people with emerging or existing mental ill health. It will also ensure people with new and ongoing mental health needs get the support they need.

About the role

This is a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community and support our community to better manage mental health. The Senior Intake worker will be responsible the intake and action of incoming referrals as well as completing an initial assessment, either over the phone or in person. As our intake worker you will be responsible for allocating eligible participants to a Wellways recovery worker for support based on needs and assessment. The Snr intake worker may need to provide a brief intervention or support whilst allocation is finalised.

The Senior intake worker may need to deliver the service to participants in an outreach model, in the home, office or in the community. The service is recovery focused, participant - centred, family and carer inclusive, collaborative and integrated with community and clinical services.

Skills & Experience:

  • Relevant qualifications or commensurate experience in working community mental health services and responding to people experiencing psychological distress generally, a Diploma qualification or above
  • Ability to relate well to clients and staff
  • High level of competency in key components of Microsoft Office applications combined with the ability to learn and adapt to new information technology systems
  • Experience working in a recovery oriented mental health environment
  • Satisfactory Police Records Check
  • Satisfactory Working with Children Check
  • NDIS Workers Screening Check
  • NDIS Workers Orientation Module Certificate
  • Right to Work within Australia
