Senior Support Worker

The role

As a Senior Support Worker, you will deliver a variety of services to participants to support them to live a fulfilling and meaningful life in the community. Your working day may include (but not limited to), assistance and or support with daily life, including personal care, domestic activities, social and community participation and varying skill development activities, social and community participation and varying skill development activities.

This opportunity can be either casual or permanent part-time dependent on the candidate. The Senior Support Worker will work between two 24/7 iCare programs to complete relevant administration tasks and liaising between relevant allied health professionals for shared care management.

The Senior Support Worker will be expected to provide individual support to participants to meet their goals identified under their NDIS plan, including:

  • Ensuring high quality outcomes are achieved for the service in line with client care plans and organisational requirements
  • Supporting NDIS participant plan reviews
  • Recruiting, onboarding, supporting and training CDS Staff
  • Supervising CDS staff
  • Motivating, supporting and mentoring team members as needed
  • Engaging participants in developing professional and trusting relationships
  • Enabling participants to exercise choice and control in their lives
  • Working with stakeholders for best participant outcomes
  • Delivering services to participants that are approved and signed off by the participant
  • Implementing behaviour support plans
  • Reporting all relevant information or concerns to the CDS Coordinator as required
  • Using established organisational systems and processes in line with Wellways policies and procedures
  • Supporting the reputation of Wellways as a preferred provider by contributing to high quality service delivery and by operating in line with Wellways values and Code of Conduct
  • Fostering effective communication and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Engaging in ongoing consultation and collaboration with participants, their families and friends
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with other organisations to ensure effective service delivery

You're a passionate, empathetic and caring individual who is looking to make an invaluable positive impact on the lives of others. You relish a challenge and new experience. You're calm, collected and resilient in the face of adversity and are looking to carry these qualities with you to the front line to start helping those in need. You are an independent, proactive thinker and worker but are also able to follow direction/s given by your managers and can work within a tight-knit team. You may also be required to support the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) program, at the request of your employer. Pre employment Checks

  • Minimum Certificate 3 in Mental Health, Disability, Aged Care, Home and Community Care or related fields (Desired, but not essential)
  • A current valid Driver's License and a registered, insured vehicle
  • Satisfactory Police Records Check and Working with Children Check, prior to commencement
  • NDIS Orientation Certificate
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Applicants having experience and knowledge in psychosocial disability will be at an advantage
  • Manual Handling training would be desired
  • Evidence of full COVID vaccination or valid medical exemption
