WESNET is seeking a technology safety specialist to provide advice, training and support across Australia to front line services working with women experiencing violence to increase their knowledge of technology-facilitated abuse. This includes domestic violence, family violence, intimate partner violence, stalking, sexual threats and other forms of gender-based violence.

The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of the dynamics of violence against women and other forms of gender-based violence and a passion for technology and be able to develop and update resources and present training to frontline workers as well as participate in a wide variety of policy and advisory roles and projects that advance technology safety for survivors.

The location for this position is flexible. This is primarily a work-from-home position. The successful applicant will ideally be based less than a one-hour commute to a major metropolitan airport with connections to the rest of Australia. The successful applicants may be required to travel as part of the position.

WESNET is Australia's peak women's organisation working to eliminate domestic and family violence.

In brief, the successful applicant(s):

  • Develop, and update training programs and resource materials to ensure currency
  • Write, create and deliver materials, including training curriculum, handouts, and multimedia projects.
  • Provide advice and support about technology facilitated violence through a range of mechanisms to frontline services, other team members and others via phone, email, and online.
  • Provide face-to-face and online training to frontline services and present at conferences and fora to other interested stakeholders as required.
  • Develop and support positive relationships with a wide range of key government, corporate and non-government stakeholders.
  • Manage the operation of a designated area of work and monitor work outcomes
  • Will report directly to the National Director Safety Net Australia and be senior members in a small team working to provide new smartphones to women experiencing domestic violence through a network of frontline agencies.
  • Have excellent communication skills, at least three-years experience in training delivery, and a solid understanding of technology-facilitated abuse and violence against women and girls.
