WestCASA is a community based not-for-profit sexual assault, family violence and trauma counselling service operating in the western metropolitan region of Melbourne for over 30 years. WestCASA provides counselling, a crisis response, advocacy, education and training and is located in Werribee, with outreaches at Footscray, Melton and the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre (DPFC, a women’s prison) at Ravenhall.

The successful applicant will provide counselling to people who experience sexual assault and related family violence and other trauma. The position will be based within WestCASA’s counselling services at Werribee, Footscray, Melton and/or Dame Phyllis Frost Centre.

Staff receive regular clinical supervision and support through the Clinical Services Manager and access to professional development both as part of a team and as an individual. WestCASA has a strong commitment to providing a learning environment and support for staff in their growth and development in this area of work.

WestCASA supports staff to develop capacities in relation to knowledge of current research and best practice in responding to complex trauma. WestCASA provides services within a feminist and rights-based framework.

WestCASA is a not-for-profit organisation with a community-based Board of Governance and a member of the state-wide peak organisation of sexual assault services, SASVic. Services are funded by the Victorian Government.

The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to and understanding of the personal and political issues surrounding sexual assault & family violence. You will have experience or a strong interest in working with complex trauma in a therapeutic environment. You will be an excellent communicator, able to work independently and contribute to a resilient team.

A generous salary is paid in accordance with the Western Region Centre Against Sexual Assault (WestCASA) Employees Enterprise Agreement 2016 – 2020. Generous salary packaging and meal benefit allowance is also available. The conditions of employment will be in accordance with the agreements as above.
