About the role

The Diversity Projects Officer will work in partnership with the Diversity and Inclusion Manager and other Diversity team staff to support cohealth to improve our services and workplaces to be culturally safe, inclusive, accessible and equitable for all staff and clients. The focus of the Diversity Projects Officer is to work to embed human rights into service design and delivery, as well as improve systems to ensure cultural safety.

Your daily duties will vary but will include:

  • Build and sustain mutually beneficial relationships with coworkers and target communities and strengthen cohealth's understanding of their needs as relevant to diversity and inclusion, contributing this information to cohealth's data and knowledge repository.
  • Maintain an ongoing understanding of priority communities' health needs (through qualitative and quantitative data) as well as the changing epidemiology of health promotion priority areas across the cohealth catchment, and actively contribute to annual team work plans to respond to these needs.
  • Work in a complex environment with competing priorities to support the development of contemporary models of practice to ensure an all of organisation approach to Diversity and Inclusion
  • Use knowledge in inclusion to actively contribute to the development of:
    • Training and resources to support culturally safe and inclusive services and work environments.
    • Initiatives that promote and strengthen human rights, with a focus of supporting a diverse workforce and inclusive workplace culture, providing culturally safe and accessible services, building community collaboration and partnership, enhancing inclusive leadership and advocate for broader change
    • Chair and facilitate meetings across the Diversity and Inclusion Space
  • Support the development of team workplan(s) including appropriate staging of interventions across a multi-year strategy.
  • Identify potential grant opportunities to support program objectives and work with the Manger, Diversity and Inclusion to assess strategic fit, supporting applications, implementation and acquittal where relevant.

What we're looking for:

  • Appropriate tertiary degree (e.g. public health, social sciences, behaviour change or similar discipline), or at least 3 years' experience in a role delivering organisational cultural initiatives.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of good community engagement, and a) identifies as a member of one or more of the target communities and/or b) considerable experience working in partnership with ≥1 of these communities.
  • At least 2 years' experience developing, implementing and evaluating impact of evidence-based diversity and inclusion programs.
  • Demonstrated experience training others and / or developing training materials and resources for a range of audiences, demonstrating a strong ability to communicate difficult concepts in simple language.
  • Experienced working in a self-directed way and collaborating as part of a high performing team to meet varied deadlines.
  • All Healthcare workers in Victoria are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19, and will need to provide evidence before commencing employment with cohealth
