About the role

Two roles available:

  • 1 EFT until the 30 June 2022
  • 0.8 EFT until the 30 December 2021

The Health Promotion Officer will support the successful development, implementation and evaluation of the cohealth Health Promotion plan in collaboration with health promotion and other coworkers.

The Health Promotion Officer will be expected to use evidence collected and to collaborate with stakeholders to identify, plan, implement and evaluate health improvement initiatives internally and externally, in line with the Health Promotion plan, and other emerging organisational priorities.

Your daily duties will vary but will include:

  • Work with the Prevention Manager and other health promotion coworkers in the development, implementation and evaluation of the cohealth Health Promotion plan. This will include ensuring that co-design of projects with communities is practiced where relevant.
  • Undertake planning, implementation and evaluation of work that effects change at various systems levels. This includes research and analysis of needs, community planning and programming, policy and program development and implementation.
  • Create opportunities and implement community mobilisation and participation activities with communities across cohealth's catchment.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationship with partner agencies to ensure cohealth is working collaboratively within Melbourne's inner north-west. This may include participation in regional partnerships..
  • Work cross-programmatically to assist cohealth staff to understand, be engaged with and involved in cohealth's health promotion initiatives and desire to be a more health-promoting service.
  • Preparation and distribution of written, audio-visual and other communication material across cohealth, to stakeholders and communities, in line with expressed needs.

What we're looking for:

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or considerable demonstrated experience in a similar role in health planning, health promotion, or public health.
  • An understanding and commitment to the principles and practices of community health, community engagement, and health promotion.
  • Demonstrated health promotion project management skills, including needs assessment, community engagement, partnership brokerage, planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work both as a member of a multidisciplinary team and independently, with limited direction.
  • High level communication, negotiation and advocacy skills.
  • All Healthcare workers in Victoria are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19and will need to provide evidence before commending employment with cohealth.
