About the role

Victims Assistance Program (VAP) offers specialist responses to victims of violent crime including intake and brief intervention, case management, (brokered) counselling services, and community education. Practice is evidence and trauma-informed and client-focussed. The VAP operates an intake and brief response service via telephone where clients (referred primarily by the police and through an e-referral system) are responded to and triaged.

The VAP Specialist Team Support Intake and Brief Response reports to the VAP Program Facilitator and will work in close collaboration with the Specialist Team Support Community Engagement & Service Improvement. The Program Manager and both Specialist Team Supports work cohesively to provide strong and responsive leadership across all aspects and locations of the VAP program.

duties vary but will include:

  • Line management and practice supervision of intake/brief response staff
  • Intake/brief response business and information management processes; and data collection, analysis and reporting, supported by the Service Access and Information Officer
  • Maintenance of an up-to-date intake/brief response practice manual (aligned with the overall VAP service model and policies)
  • Ensuring the interface between intake and brief response, referrals to case management and external counselling referrals are streamlined and effective
  • Co-designing and leading evaluation and review with the intake/brief response work area; embedding associated learning and change
  • Providing secondary consultation and support to case managers on site as required
  • Representing cohealth VAP in local partnerships/forums as required

What we're looking for:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a service delivery area relevant to VAP or one or more of its functions (i.e. Intake, counselling, therapeutic work, legal, case management), eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional body
  • Experience in the provision of practice/clinical supervision to staff working with clients with complex needs or who have experienced trauma and/or who are victims of crime. Applications will be considered from applicants who do not have direct supervision experience but who have demonstrated leadership attributes and a commitment to professional development in this area
  • Demonstrated functional leadership experience
  • Experience in systems design, project development and working with complex service data bases
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Track record in effective partnership management using collaborative approaches
  • Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement
