The Whitlam Institute is seeking a new Policy and Research Manager who will lead our work to develop and influence policy by engaging with communities, working across the political spectrum and offering constructive and practical policy solutions.

The Policy and Research Manager will work with our Distinguished Fellows and researchers from across the country and the globe to design and develop research that creates more inclusive public policy engagement, particularly around our themes of the Future of Australian Democracy and Australia in the World.

This role is a senior position within the Institute working closely with the Director, the Institute Manager and others in the management team on strategy. The position will be critical to the next stage of the Whitlam Institute’s development, which will be focused on enhancing its policy research and impact. They will be supported by our Policy and Research Officer.

We are looking for a dynamic and engaging policy professional who has broad experience and can lead our research program, enhance our policy engagement, extend our networks, and identify opportunities to increase our impact. You will be able to analyse, interpret and communicate data and synthesise research reports to develop policy positions in relation to key priorities.

The right person for this role will have a strong grasp of the national policy agenda and experience in influencing that agenda. They will be able to showcase the contemporary relevance of the Whitlam nation building program. They will, along with the Director, drive the advocacy agenda for the Whitlam Institute, including with government.

This is a full-time, ongoing position based at the Parramatta South campus.

Remuneration Package: HEW Level 8 $120,879 to $134,189 p.a. (comprising Salary of $102,144 to $113,391 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading).
