Wildlife Health Australia (WHA) is the coordinating body for wildlife health in Australia, and initially began as a national initiative of the Australian Government in 2002*. The head office is located in Sydney, NSW, but remote arrangements will be considered for the successful applicant.

WHA works with a network of government and private stakeholders across Australia to develop strong partnerships in order to better manage the adverse effects of wildlife diseases on Australia’s animal health industries, human health, biodiversity, trade and tourism. WHA participates in surveillance, investigation, monitoring, research and recording of wildlife disease events. WHA helps protect Australia's trade, human health, biodiversity and tourism.

WHA is seeking a motivated Project Support Officer to join our team on a fixed term, full-time basis (38 hours per week, 2-year contract). We are looking for someone excited to be in a diverse role, supporting multiple projects and groups on the go at any one time. They must have outstanding communication skills, attention to detail, and an interest in wildlife health and One Health. Experience in online content administration and website management is central to assist WHA transform the way it interacts with and supports a huge variety of stakeholders.

An ideal candidate will possess the following, specific to the Project Support Officer role:

  • Knowledge and interest in conservation, wildlife health and / or One Health
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to accurate record keeping, fact finding, and data collection.
  • Demonstrated excellence in computer skills including demonstrated experience with websites and databases.
  • Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communications.
  • Demonstrated general administrative skills.
  • Knowledge of animal disease management including wildlife diseases.
  • Knowledge of government processes and functions relating to animal health issues.

Qualifications & Licences

  • Related experience, or a degree in an appropriate discipline such as veterinary science, animal health, biological sciences or environmental health.
  • A veterinary science degree that is registrable in one of Australia’s states or territories is desirable, but not required.
  • A current Australian Drivers License is desirable.

Salary for this position is $66,770 p/a plus 10.5% superannuation.
