Whitelion is looking for an experienced case management professional to join our Western Metro Area Team as the Housing Support Coordinator.

We are looking for someone with extensive experience in working with young people at risk, community, and with demonstrable skills in providing individualised support working with young people at risk of, or experiencing homelessness.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Based in Whitelion’s Hoppers Crossing office, this role will be a part of the H3 Alliance and will provide targeted, housing focused interventions that connect young people to housing options, by supporting them with service coordination, advocacy, short-term crisis options, budgeting and coordination of paperwork, as well as establishing strategies to ensure housing is sustainable once attained.

Key components of the role are:

  • Providing individualised support (intensive case management and coordination, brief intervention, assertive outreach)
  • Community engagement and capacity building
  • Stakeholder and partnership engagement, particularly to improve access pathways
  • Community-based outreach and co-location

Although the role will be based in Hoppers Crossing, you will also be expected to work across multiple sites with the Wyndham LGA as required. There may be some after hours work required.

YOUR PROFILE

You will have:

  • Extensive experience in working with young people at risk, community, and demonstrable skills in engaging and supporting young people at risk of or experiencing homelessness
  • Previous experience providing individualised support (intensive case management) in a community service environment, preferably working with at risk and vulnerable young people
  • An understanding of and experience working with the issues confronting vulnerable young people (including, family violence, substance abuse, child abuse and child safety, mental ill-health and relationships) and their families
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in addition to a high level of interpersonal, liaison and negotiation skills in order to build rapport and trust with various stakeholders
  • Commitment to the safety, wellbeing and participation of all children and young people
