White Ribbon Australia
  • Full Time position
  • Contract ending April 2023
  • Remotely work from home
  • Opportunity to make a difference in the Family & Domestic Violence sector

About Us

White Ribbon Australia is a part of a global social movement working to eliminate gendered violence. We strive for an Australian society where all women and children are safe.

The White Ribbon Australia movement works through a primary prevention approach in communities, schools and workplaces across the country. Through our programs and campaigns, we engage with men to become active in the social change needed to stop men’s violence against women and children.

In May 2020, White Ribbon Australia was acquired by Communicare, a Western Australian for-purpose organisation.

The Role

The Primary Prevention Officers are responsible for working with communities to develop local primary prevention activities aimed at addressing gender inequality and domestic, family and sexual violence.

This project is funded over two years by the Australian Government Department of Social Services and will be delivered as part of the Fourth Action Plan of the National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010–2022.

The objective of this project is to use White Ribbon Australia’s Community Action Group model to expand community understanding of men’s violence against women, with a focus on preventing sexual violence, sexual harassment and consent.

Primary Prevention Officers will work on the ground to establish and grow White Ribbon Community Action Groups. They will then work with these groups to develop and implement a whole-of-community response plan aimed at preventing domestic, family and sexual violence. They will provide training, support and resources to those communities, including education around gendered violence, primary prevention, advocacy, stakeholder engagement and community consultation to address the unique culture, circumstance and challenges of each community.
