Board Member (Voluntary)

Women's Legal Centre (ACT and Region) Inc

The Board plays a critical role in setting the Centre’s strategic direction and governance framework as well as monitoring ongoing performance. Members of the Board are volunteers. We currently have one vacancy on our seven member Board.

We are seeking candidates who:

  • Can provide an appropriate level of strategic oversight and support to the CEO and the Centre
  • Can contribute ideas to respond to strategic challenges faced by community organisations
  • Have strong communication skills and experience in working within committees
  • Have a sound understanding of best practice corporate governance
  • Have achieved leadership standing in business, government, or the not-for-profit/community sector

We particularly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, women of colour, women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and women with a disability, to apply.

While not essential, we are also keen to hear from women who bring strong communication, marketing and fundraising skills, and those who have supported expanding, evolving and innovative organisations through periods of change and growth.
