About the role

Wesley Mission has a long-established history in providing Out of Home Care (OOHC) across NSW. This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work with children, birth parents and foster carers, as well as involvement in the recruitment, assessment and training of new carers.

Essential criteria

• Degree in Social Work, Social Welfare, Psychology or related discipline
• Minimum 5 years’ experience working with children and families
• Current unrestricted driver’s licence
• Current NSW Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain
• Demonstrated ability to write reports to a professional standard with excellent verbal and written skills
• Ability to work as a part of a team and independently
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications
• Demonstrated conflict resolution skills and experience managing difficult behaviours
• Available to work flexible working hours including some evenings and weekends.

Desirable criteria

• Previous experience in OOHC
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of NSW Child Protection Legislation and Child Safe Standards in OOHC and a commitment to maintaining accreditation
• Familiarity with the Permanency Support Programme
• Previous supervisory experience
• Experience in using consensus-based risk-assessment (see definition).

Remuneration

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010. The agency provides regular supervision and support for all staff and opportunities for professional development.
