About the opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Carer Recruitment and Carer Support Worker to join our Home Based Care Program. The program delivers support services to children and young people aged 0-18 years and their families in a foster care arrangement.

The role will also support our Keeping Connected Sibling Support and Placement Service Program, which aims to keep sibling groups together in a home based care setting and prevent children and young people from being placed in residential care unnecessarily.

As a Carer Recruitment and Carer Support Worker, you will:

  • Drive intensive carer recruitment activities
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of marking strategies for recruiting carers
  • Support accreditation and assessment of foster carers and lead tenants
  • Provide ongoing supervision, training and support to carers
  • Uphold program compliance and audit requirements

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a Diploma in Community Services or equivalent qualification. Additional qualifications in Social Work, Marketing or Communications, or a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment will be highly regarded.

You will also have:

  • Demonstrated experience working with children and young people who have experienced past trauma and abuse
  • Experience in the recruitment, assessment and accreditation of foster carers and/or lead tenants
  • An understanding of trauma informed care and therapeutic parenting practices
  • Sound risk assessment and risk management skills
  • Ability to develop comprehensive reports, service documents and maintain case notes in a timely manner
